Some Facts about CIS in Delaware for 2006-2007

  • Nearly 7 thousand students and their families had access to CIS brokered services in 5 school districts.
  • Approximately 550 students are targeted for specific support due to identified risk factors such as poor academic performance, poor attendance, or frequent misbehavior.
  • CIS collaborated and worked with 84 community partners(agencies, organizations, or individuals).
  • 80 volunteers provided mentoring and direct service to students, totaling 1250 hours.|

  • More than 850 parent/guardians were engaged in some way and/or served by CIS.
CIS identified a very specific group of students for needed assistance in one or more of seven areas – attendance, behavior, suspensions, school achievement, promotion, graduation, and academic achievement. The following are the outcomes of CIS in Delaware 2006-2007:

Attendance

  • 72 percent of the students tracked for poor attendance improved their attendance.

Promotion, Graduation, Staying in School

  • 98 percent of tracked CIS students remained in school.
  • 88 percent of the tracked eligible seniors graduated.
  • 83 percent of all CIS-tracked students were promoted to the next grade.

Behavior Incidents and Suspension

  • 72 percent of students tracked for behavior problems had fewer behavior incidents.
